A series of poems about a variety of socially based issues of the late 1990's in Australia. Issues include 24 hour trading, loneliness, greed, water misuse, commercialised Christmas, decay of discipline, red tape and the decay of society.

It includes the following dedication to the great Aussie Volunteer.

THE AUSSIE VOLUNTEER

They do not stand out in the crowd;
Nor are they brash or deemed loud.
They're ordinary people to see,
In fact, just like you and like me.
From their toes to the tip of their head
It is easily, readily said:
That the woman or man beside you
Could be easily tomorrow's hero.

But given a crisis at hand,
Then united they willingly stand.
Without thought for their personal fate,
Often working in sleepless state.
They willingly give of their all,
And then answer the further call.
This appreciative nation must cheer:
The great Aussie Volunteer.
