Jo-ElSemanonThis is Semanon's first actual single release and is aimed at following up on the succesful album sales of Rocking Forward To The Past, though the single is not from that album. The single is a maxi single of three parts that can be played individually or as the complete 3 part song. Jo-El is the story of an atypical young woman in our current society. The song is the result of seeing too many young girls (and not so young) met in over thirty years as a youth worker, who walk down this generalised path. Most have been okay as they have found the right answers at the right time, but there are those who did not or could not find the right road. These young girls, as they start to grow, think that they are totally invincible and feel that they can do anything. In Part 1 the song takes us through this feeling and portrays a person who feels that they can do it their way, without consequence. Nothing is beyond them. Their “brashness” is a cover for their insecurity. Part 2 takes us to the next step where there is some secret doubt about what they can do and a certain feeling of insecurity and unsureness about their capabilities. Fortunately, many young girls, having reached this stage, turn to the right people for advice and manage to get their lives together, becoming people who will be able to help the next generation. In Part 3, we see the other group, that having passed through the second stage, find an unexpected freedom (such as leaving home to find their own way in the world) and, not being properly prepared for this step, sadly are led astray by that element of the human race that preys on such people. Not knowing what life is about often leads them into deeper trouble and, for some, the path becomes, sadly, almost irreversible, unless they are rescued from this plight. |
