Mullumbimby lies on the Brunswick River and has been a marketing town since the time of its beginnings in the late nineteenth century. The community declined during the 1950's but with the arrival of the alternative lifestyles of the late 1960's the town revived with a cultural and economic diversity. The town is well known these days for its woodcraft, which includes cabinet making and sculpture. The town's streets are lined with palm trees and the town is overlooked by Chincogan, a basalt peak. The town offers a great place for the tourist to stay that is away from the mainstream tourist route but within very easy access to a large range of activities and places to visit.
