The skyline of Mt Russell is dominated by huge wheat silos, once a bustling wheat centre but since the closure of the rail line, these silos do not see that type of activity.
As a whole, the village is of great interest to followers of history, with many of the buildings in the village being the original ones (though maybe not used for their original purposes). These include the old store and the school.
