RAILWAY INFORMATION

Local councils do have some information about communities located within their boundaries. You can access this information through the Local Council site through the link found on Local Information Section of this site.

Macksville is located on the Pacific Highway and offers an ideal central position for tourists visiting the Nambucca Valley. It is close to the coast allowing easy access to the wide array of beaches and fishing spots along the coastal area. It also offers access to a number of the inland tourist attractions with places such as 'The Pub With No Beer' (Taylors Arm) just a short drive form Macksville.

There are a number of picnic areas and parks scatterd throughout the town and district that allow for a relaxed time, particularly for families.

The Pioneer Cottage on the outskirts of Macksville (River Street) is a tiny houe of rough-sawn timber that shows the typical type of home that the earlier settlers of the district of the last century would live. The home is, in fact, quite luxurious for its period as it actually boasted a wooden floor instead of the standard earthen floor that was typical of the era. The site also boasts a fine collection of horse related equipment of the pioneers of the day. Contact with the cottage can be made on (02) 6568 1457.

There are a number of coffee shops and clubs for that quiet drink and snack or meal.
