RAILWAY INFORMATION

Local councils do have some information about communities located within their boundaries. You can access this information through the Local Council site through the link found on Local Information Section of this site.

HANGING ROCK Tourism

Hanging Rock is a small community lying 11Km east of Nundle. Lying on top of the range, it dates back to the 1880's and the gold fever of those days.

Two historic dams (built in 1888 for the gold mining), known as the Sheba Dams, are well worth the visit. Additional attractions to the community are its summer sports (including swimming and fishing) and, in winter, the frequent snow falls provide an attraction equal to those anywhere else within the state.

If you know of a local tourist site that is located in this community but is not listed here, please Email us (using the button at the bottom of this page) and let us know the details, including the community to which you are referring.

images/Historic Slab Hut This early example of a slab hut (possibly dating back to the late 1800's) had absolutely no information and was discovered by accident but it typifies the type of dwelling used by early miners and others in that era.
