Boomi - Royal Hotel

HISTORICAL INFORMATION
The Royal Hotel was built in 1908 with the transfer of the licence from the Kunopia Hotel; it was on the north-eastern side of Bishop Street. John and Agnes Moloney had the hotel built and were the first licensees. In 1911, Oswald Murray took over the licence, followed later by Mr Mather.

Historic Royal Hotel
Before World War 1 the licence was transferred to Richard Lennox. In 1915 the Royal Hotel was totally destroyed by fire. A temporary bar was set up at William Turner's home across the road, while plans were underway to rebuild. Being the war years the hotel was never replaced and the licence was lost from Boomi. The stables were saved from the fire and they were bought by Hilton Pitman and taken out to Waverley.
