RAILWAY INFORMATION

Local councils do have some information about communities located within their boundaries. You can access this information through the Local Council site through the link found on Local Information Section of this site.

The village of Black Mountain lies just 10Km south of Guyra.

It is a small village that exists in two sections. Located on the New England Highway is the Black Mountain Roadhouse and Motel. This marks the turn off into Black Mountain proper, a drive of 3Km.

200 metres to the south of the roadhouse is the access road to Thunderbolt's Cave, a spot rumoured (with some fairly strong evidence, to have been one of the notorious bushranger's hiding places.

Opposite the roadhouse is the road to Malpas Dam, water supply dam for Armidale.

The road house lies at the top of notorious Pinch, a segment of the New England Highway subject to snow closure during the winter months.

The community offers a relaxed style of living for those who want out of the mainstream.
