Australian Country Music Foundation
Some Country Music History

Tamworth is Australia's Home of Country Music. While you're in Music City you must see the Australian Country Music Foundation.

The Foundation was formed quite recently by prominent country music people, to collect, preserve and display our country music heritage.

THE ACMF is housed in one of Tamworth's most historic buildings. Built in 1866, the Mechanics Institute has been lovingly restored to its original glory by Tamworth City Council.

The Foundation's first Exhibition is a tribute to Australia's Country Music legend, Slim Dusty. The fascinating collection of memorabilia reflects Slim's 50 years as a recording artist, entertainer and songwriter. You'll find Gold records, manuscripts of some of his famous songs, guitars and other bits and pieces from his climb to fame. A remarkable Australian and a remarkable Exhibition.

The Australian Country Music Foundation is open daily from 10.00am to 2.00pm or your group can arrange for a special viewing. Don't miss the Australian Country Music Foundation when you visit Country Music Capital.
